What is counselling?

Counselling or “talking therapy” is for anyone who’s going through

a bad time or who has emotional problems they can’t sort out on their own. Research shows that talking therapies can help people in all sorts of situations.

Our counselling service will provide you an opportunity to talk one-to-one with a trained counsellor about personal issues in a safe environment. We have a team of male and female counsellors with a range of experiences and expertise.  A few of our counsellors are students working towards the completion of their training. You will be matched to the most suitable counsellor.

Counselling sessions last 50 - 60 minutes and are arranged on weekly basis, although this can be negotiated to suit specific requirements.  The duration of therapy may vary and can be agreed with your counsellor.

We offer counselling either from our offices in Old Trafford or from an outreach venue closer to your home where possible. In some cases, we will provide home visits or phone-counselling. If you have difficulty speaking English we might be able to  offer a counsellor who speaks your language or offer you support through an interpreter.

All our work is strictly confidential except in circumstances where the counsellor feels there is serious risk of harm to yourself and others; in such circumstances you will be notified in advance.

We are a low-cost counselling service with fees ranging from £25 - £40 depending on your household income. We have a limited number of places for people who are unemployed and legally resident in the UK. Proof of income required.
